    Triennial Exhibition Provisional dates 9/4-14/5/2022
Since the last email, representatives of all the groups involved in the Triennial Exhibition have met via Zoom to feedback the opinions of their members regarding when to reschedule. This was unanimously decided upon as Spring 2022. Provisional dates of 9th April to 14th May have been pencilled in. This is a 5 week run, just in case there are still some restrictions in place next year.
Friendship Quilt

It has been suggested we could make a "Friendship Quilt" as a group for Norma. We feel she would be the perfect recipient for this project. We know she is fond of her garden and cats, however, her vision is somewhat limited. Consequently we feel using bright colours and texture would be appropriate. If you wish to make a block for this venture the following stipulations apply: please use prewashed cotton fabric, garden / flower / cat theme, bright colours, large scale, any technique, unfinished size 10.5 x 10.5 inches. We propose to use a fleece backing and would like you to complete your block by the beginning of April. We hope to make a lap sized quilt.
Zoom Meetings
We have had the chance now to canvas opinion and experiment with Zoom. We have decided to proceed with evening meetings only and aim to hold these on a fortnightly basis. It seems to be possible to use one link for two consecutive 40 minute sessions, although this means we have to log back in again half way, but it incurs no expense. So we will continue with this plan.
We are planning to hold Zoom meetings on the following dates and will try to incorporate some demonstrations as well as show and tell.

Thursday 4th February - Show and tell of latest challenge "Threads of 2020", Demonstration - Folded Flower by Elma Graham. If you wish to take part on the night you will need, 8" square of fabric suitable for finger pressing and creases made are easily visible, needle with colour to match fabric, sand / glass paper or cutting board for work surface to prevent fabric sliding. Can also try this with wrapping paper although less flexible than fabric.

Tuesday 16th February - Demonstration - Stalks and Stems by Maybelle Coltart. If you wish to have a go on the night you will need, scrap of fabric for background ( calico would do ) approx. 8" x 6", also a strip of bias cut fabric - 1/2" x 12" approx., sewing kit and fabric marker or pencil.

It is hoped the demonstrations in February will give you some ideas for adding texture to your block if you are taking part in the "Friendship Quilt".

Thursday 4th March - Demonstration - Fabric Weaving by Jane Jung

Tuesday 16th March - ? Easter Project TBA

Thursday 8th April - Show and tell - "Friendship Quilt" blocks for Norma

We suggest you have a pencil and paper handy for taking notes at our demonstrations and if there are specific requirements these have been listed. The above syllabus is a work in progress and we will of course share more information when we have finalised details ourselves. We welcome your feedback regarding these plans and proposed time of our Zoom meetings.

Stay safe and virus free and happy stitching.
