UPDATE INORMATION

12 June 2021

NEW DATES FOR ZOOM MEETINGS:

You will receive email link from Jane to join.  We have decided future meetings  should all be held on Thursday evenings 6.30 pm. The next few meetings will be:

24/6 - we will be unveiling our latest challenge on the theme of "Houses".

22/7 - Fabric Manupulation with Maybelle Coltart - requirements - 8" x 8" self coloured square fabric + 2" square contrasting fabric. Ruler and needle and thread.

19/8 - "Dresden Plate" themed evening

  Further developments,
The committee hopes you remain well and are finding enough motivation to keep quilting. As soon as we are able to meet again in person we will of course arrange to do so. However, we await further government guidance regarding this.

Triennial Exhibition dates 2/4 - 7/5/2022 - have now been confirmed. Exhibition lasting for 6 weeks. As the exhibition is being held over Easter it might be nice to include the Bunnie Gift Bags on our sales table. Jane has emailed the pattern to you.

Friendship Quilt - thank you all who ensured they had forwarded Norma's blocks to us. We have 12 so far and have chosen fabric from Norma's own collection of fabrics for the sashing and borders. If you still have your block and like it to be included in the quilt, please send it to either Jane or Elma.

(It has been suggested we could make a "Friendship Quilt" as a group for Norma. We feel she would be the perfect recipient for this project. We know she is fond of her garden and cats, however, her vision is somewhat limited. Consequently we feel using bright colours and texture would be appropriate. If you wish to make a block for this venture the following stipulations apply: please use prewashed cotton fabric, garden / flower / cat theme, bright colours, large scale, any technique, unfinished size 10.5 x 10.5 inches. We propose to use a fleece backing and would like you to complete your block by the beginning of April. We hope to make a lap sized quilt.)

ALL SOLWAY QUILTERS FACE TO FACE MEETINGS ARE STILL CANCELLED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

Stay safe and virus free and happy stitching.
